Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to GAS-O-LENA Part 2

A realistic dream will always come to true by the path you take to make your dream real.

I've always kept my dream in my head and the grade 9 "Career Day" reinforced my love for the job. Once grade 10 started I created a plan and a path that allowed me to graduate with the correct credentials. I spent many days and hours with my career councillor working on the correct steps. Sure enough 2 years later I graduated and was accepted to a post secondary institute. I'm a strong believer in the harder you work the more opportunities will be presented to you!

But while working at the hotel, I never felt like I was working at achieving my dream. Until Ronnie sent me an email about a job opening and I applied for my first Airline! I never told my boss at the hotel but she said " I have a feeling changes are coming your way." I asked her "are you firing me?" She said "no, I just feel something good is coming your way." Sure enough, 2 weeks later I left for my first airline.

I can remember my interview process because it started with my phone going off while we waited for the interviewers to call us. I believe it was an Usher song, we all know his lyrics can be a little sexual. Sure enough I was called and I'm 100% positively answered the typical answers:

1. I want to travel the world and treat the passengers as Royalty, O wait I mean as best as I can.

2. I want to bring elegance back into flying

3. I want to go to Paris and do some shopping...

4. Or how about this I love people and Travel too.

But hey they liked my answers and I went on to the second round of interviews.

The second round of interviews consisted of reviewing my resume while describing my accomplishment and future goals. Surprisingly I really enjoyed this phase because I was able to sell myself to the interviewers. Once we finished I got the "okay, thank you and we'll be in touch with you within the next few weeks!" I went home a little defeated and upset thinking I didn't get the job! Sure enough I got a phone call the next day and was asked to come in for the 3rd round of interviews. At this point I was scared shitless because this means I'm either in or not.

I remember sitting at the Fairmont Airport waiting room and totally confused on why I haven't been called in. Suddenly, my interviewers stormed in and apologized for being late due to the fact they we're shopping. Now I was sweating bullets and thought I was going to barf because I felt like I boomed my 3rd interview. Exactly 2 days later I came home from work and I received a phone call from Zoom Airlines and was offered the position. Between the screaming, yelling, jumping, hugging my mom and trying to talk I managed to get out a YES! I just had to pass my medical and the 5 weeks training program then I could be a flight attendant. Getting that phone call was one of the best days of my life! I really mean this!!!

I felt like everything I've been working for has come to life and my hard work has paid off. Until Aug 28, 2008 when I lost my job because my company declared bankruptcy. Now this was one of the worst days of my life! It was so bad that while I was stuck in Glasgow I hardly slept because of depression, stress and thoughts about how am I going to make it home. It was horrible because my dream job came to an end with a snap of a finger.
