A career always starts with a dream!
A realistic dream will always come to true by the path you take to make your dream real.
Achieving your dream will creates amazing memories that you'll never forget!
I'm going to talk about how I started my dream and career over the next few blogs! I'll end with what a flight attendant really does. I hope people enjoy and find some inspiration in what I'm sharing.
My dream started when I met one of my best friends mom. Elisia, was a flight attendant with Canadian regional and I remember seeing her leave for work and how elegant she looked. I can still picture her standing at the door in her uniform with her bags packed and ready to leave. I thought to myself wait you get to fly, be paid and see the world! I knew I wanted to be a FLIGHT ATTENDANT from that moment on.
At the age of 14 my other best friend mother took me to grade 9 career day. Nancy, worked for Air Canada and I'll never forget that day! On this day I learnt the difference between Airbus and Boeing! For people who don't know Airbus have the mini winglets and Boeing don't. I'm not talking about the massive winglets to reduce lift induced drag but they are smaller unless it's the Airbus A330. Take a peek at the photo below and it's show you the type of Airbus plane and the winglet.
Another memorable moment from that day was when I sat and helped tow a plane away from the gate. I was scared but it's amazing how small the car (pushback tractor or tug) is and how much it can push! I also recall meeting an airplane at the gate! As the plane came holy noise from the engines but It was so exciting... Once the door opened I remember the flight attendant saying "it was bumpy!" Nancy then looked down at me and said "you know it's bad when a flight attendant says it was bad." That has always stuck with me even to this day! If passengers see a flight attendant start freaking out they'll freak out! As that day came to an end I remember I was a little jealous that another grade 9 student actually got to fly Toronto to Vancouver to Toronto with his mother! I wanted to do that but hey I still had an amazing day!
This is when I created my Dream of being a flight attendant! My tourism teacher in grade 11 and 12 once asked me" what do you want to do in life?" and I said "I want to be a flight attendant!" Ironically enough I was in London and waiting for passengers to deplane guess who walks off the plane? my tourism teacher! He shook my hand and congratulated me for following my dreams. That was a special day because it made me feel like I've accomplished something!
